Wonderment is the moment of enlightenment when you discover something new—something that sends you down a rabbit hole. It is the impulse to keep your eyes and mind open to possibility: to reach beyond the familiar, to remain receptive to surprise, and to allow yourself to be astonished and inspired by newfound awareness, sometimes beyond your wildest dreams.

I discovered Howard Gardiner Cushing’s paintings while flipping through a 1970s issue of Vogue, searching for an Avedon photograph of an Ara Gallant hairstyle. On Justine Cushing’s walls were the most fantastical paintings. What began as a search for a photograph suddenly became something else entirely: a new visual world opening before me.

That is the magic of wonderment—the unexpected discovery that takes you somewhere you never intended to go and makes you want to keep looking.

The collection explores that same feeling of enchantment and discovery through layers of romantic florals, opulent embellishment, nostalgic lingerie, lace, crochet, luminous satin, and fantastical prints. It is a wardrobe built through accumulation and curiosity, where one discovery naturally leads to another.

The Lilac & Black Fairytale scarf print and Beardsley & Nouveau Florals unfold across a kimono-sleeve jacket and matching robe. An Heirloom Embroidered halter top is paired with Cabochon Bejeweled jeans, while a Mauve Denim lace-up corselette and jeans are finished with delicate floral lace appliqué.

Eyelet and Crochet lace tunics and pinafores are layered over skirts and capri pants. A Crochet Diamond, ribbon trimmed suit is worn over a Rosebud Lace top and leggings, while a Satin Waterlily Appliqué camisole and skirt are layered with an orchid Poiret Stripe dress. A black Poiret Stripe pajama set, finished with frog closures, brings the private world of the boudoir into the realm of fantasy.

An Orchid Quilted Satin corselette top is paired with Ombré Stripe drawstring pants. Mother-of-Pearl Paillettes create a luminous, almost painted quality of reflected light, while Opaline Roses in lilac and mushroom bloom alongside soft Ombré knitwear.

An Ombré Plaid Satin-Stripe kilt is layered over Chartreuse Crushed Velvet jeans and worn with an iridescent mesh top, introducing a touch of grunge glamour into the romance. A Forget-Me-Not Washed Satin dress offers another expression of enchanted beauty, while a Rosettes Embroidered Stripe maxi pinafore is layered over Cabochon Bejeweled jeans.

A Lattice Embroidered skirt is worn over a Neon-Green Trimmed lingerie slip skirt and camisole. Floral prints—including Garden Border, Anemone Crinkle Chiffon, and Cornflower Satin Burnout—appear throughout the collection, creating an ever-changing garden of color, pattern, and texture.

Fairytale Blooms cotton voile embroidery camisole and bed jacket is paired with studded jeans. A Mademoiselle knit cardigan and skirt are layered with a mother-of-pearl appliqué halter, bringing together softness, nostalgia, and ornament.

A Swarovski rhinestone chiffon dress is worn over Swarovski-embellished jeans, while lilac Ombré crochet knitwear is topped with a capelet in Twilight Bloom Sequins & Moonlit Rose Chiffon combination. Together, these pieces continue the collection’s dreamlike language of layering, luminosity, and transformation.

A Rosebud Pleated Voile set is joined with Dotted Violet Mesh separates and dresses. A Silhouette Lilies Embroidered Tulle jacket and dress are worn over a Pleated Black Floral Lace tiered skirt. Finally, Fortuny-inspired slate Crushed Pleated Satin separates and a dress are trimmed with antique-silver passementerie ribbons.

For the accessories, I collaborated with Erickson Beamon Jewelry, drawing inspiration from the Arts and Crafts movement and its incorporation of mother-of-pearl and abalone into the pieces. John Fluevog Shoes become fairytale boudoir slippers, crafted from vintage fabrics, and trimmed with rosettes, ruffles, and faux fur trim. Mondottica Eyewear introduces fairy-like elements through crystals, iridescence, and Art Nouveau lines. Olah Hair accessories are customized in our prints with tulip, calla-lily and lilies of the valley scrunchies.

The result is a world where the familiar becomes romantic, dreamlike, and newly illuminated—a wardrobe born from curiosity, where beauty is discovered through layers, contrasts, memories, and unexpected juxtapositions.

That is wonderment: the moment when a chance discovery becomes a fascination; when looking becomes imagining; and when a painting on a wall can open a door into an entirely new world.
